August 14, 2007---Mikaya's first day of 2nd grade

I asked Mikayla what her new teacher's rules were. She said.

1. No talking back
2. Raise your hand for permission
3. The Golden Rule

I asked her what the Golden Rule was.

KK---"I have no idea"

Mom--"We are to treat people the way we want them to treat us."

KK--"No...that's not it."

"It's UNTO...UNTO....something.

Later, she remembered another rule....."Think before you call." (She's convinced it is a rule about telephone etiquette)

I love it!

Kids Say the Darndest Things

Nathan just turned 5 but is small for his age. When he told me he was going to play football I asked him what position he would play.

"I don't know." He wriggled out of my arms. "Let me go ask my Mama!"

Later in the day......
"Mom, are you going to watch my at my actual game or on tv?"

After gymnastics, Milton suggested we get a bite to eat. Mikayla says, " I want to get some Chinese food. I'm not use to American food yet." (She's been in the states since she was 11 months old....6 1/2 years ago!"

Then there was baby....!

After a whirlwind romance, Milton and I were married in a small church in Whistler, Alabama in Dec., 1971. Twelve months later God blessed us with a son, Christopher Michael. The intense, fierce love that a mother experiences with her first child cannot be described. Surely I could never feel that way about another child.....ever.

WRONG! In 1976, our first daughter, Aimee' Brooke was born. Oh my gosh! What a precious angel! Surely I could never feel this way about a third child.

WRONG AGAIN! In 1980, our 2nd daughter, Autumn Paige made her appearance. I was as madly in love with this child as I had been with our first two children. Our family was complete.

WRONG, WRONG, WRONG!!! Did you know God has a sense of humor? In 2000 (yes... 20 years later!) a tiny, frightened and beautiful toddler was placed in our arms in a hotel room in Changsha, China. Mikayla Rose Xin-Guang was conceived in our heart the same month she was conceived physically in China. GOD IS INDEED GOOD!
